ABC League 2025
Congratulations to Team Disraeli, comprising team captain Patrick Daubney, with Brian Russell, Julian Cowdery, Mike Shaile, Penny Young, Rosemary Wilman and Tony Streetley, who emerged as the winners of the 2025 ABC League. Runners-up were Team Blair. Our thanks to all those club members who made this another enjoyable and exciting season-long competition, and to our brilliant Catering team for providing the nibbles at the end of the series celebrations.
Captains vs Vice-Captains Matches 2025
The annual 2-stage Captains vs Vice-Captains matches, which start and end the season, was won overall by the Vice-Captains' team.
Vic Saunders Triples Shield
The very first running of the club team competition for the Vic Saunders Triples Shield was won by the narrowest of margins by Team C (Di Newman, Richard Noel & Peter Newman - see photo, receiving the Shield from Vic Saunders), who beat Team G (Keith Gomm, Eddie Chamberlain, and Denis Bylett) by a single shot in the final game. The competition honours the club's longest-serving member, Vic Saunders, who has contributed so much to the club in his 31 years as a playing member.
The event was followed by a delicious tea provided by our brilliant catering team to over 40 members and guests. Our thanks to Rosemary Westcott for organising the competition. See Picture Gallery for further photos.
Successful "Newbies" Competition
Auriol Bowling Club held a “Newbies” triples competition, an inter-club competition open to bowlers who have only started bowling in the last year, i.e. since April 2023. It was won by Bookham, with Auriol A team, comprising Paul Hayes, Richard Noel and Patrick Daubney (shown L-R in middle photo, with club President John Green), coming second, and Supreme third.
Our thanks to Rosemary Westcott and Diann Newman, who with others organised the event, and to our ever resourceful catering team Geoff, Doreen and helpers who provided lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
