Finals Days - Results

We have our new club Champions for 2021 following two days of intense, exciting competition. The Ladies Singles champion is Brenda Lisney, who had a pretty full schedule of matches over the weekend, and the Mens Singles champion is Brian Russell. For the full list of winners see below.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making the Finals Days go so smoothly, in particular to Competition Secretary Jan Kentish, but also to the markers and scorers, and to the Catering team who laid on lunch and refreshments throughout the weekend. Thank you, too, to the members, friends and family who came to support the event.

Auriol Triumph in inaugural Carol Shannon Trophy

Carol Shannon Trophy Winners (L-R) Rosemary Wilman, Di Newman, Doreen Weight

At Sutton & District Bowling Association Finals Day Di Newman, Rosemary Wilman and Doreen Weight overcame Epsom in a match that was decided on the last end, Auriol scoring 2, to achieve their 19-18 victory. To reach the final the club met Cheam Fields, Ashtead and Sutton. With 10 clubs represented in the finals there was a good number of spectators, and the support of Louis Pelosi and Vic Saunders was much appreciated by the players.

The Carol Shannon Trophy is a new Sutton & District Ladies Triples knock-out competition, to run alongside the existing Arthur Hughes Triples Trophy for men.

Tons League result

Auriol finished in joint third place in the Tons League, a Mens Triples league comprising 11 clubs in the area. This is a highly creditable performance as it's our first season competing in this League. Congratulations to all those who represented the club in this series.

.. and Racal Decca Mixed League

where we finished in a strong fourth place, behind a very tight 3-way fight between Ember, Ewell Village and Cheam, with just one point separating the three. Again, our thanks to all those club members who put their names down to play in these matches.

Members Cup

The Members Cup match took place on Tuesday 4 May with all 18 members who were available making up three triples. Congratulations to the winning team of Alan Green, Brenda Lisney and David Ganney, who won by an impressive margin of 63-35.

The Members Cup event is an opportunity to remember and play tribute to members who are no longer able to play or who have passed away.
